Job Title: Business Development Manager

Reports to: Regional Sales Manager

Location: Home based but required to visit customers and potential customers and attend meetings at the relevant Company office as necessary

Employment: Full time

Package: 60k-70k OTE

Essential Responsibilities

Part of the Southern Regional Management team, and will take direction from and is accountable to the Regional Sales Manager.  This will include but not limited to

  • Meeting or exceeding agreed monthly sales budget/targets
  • The identification and active pursuit of new business opportunities for the Company’s products and services; either within the Region, of part of the Region as determined by the Regional Sales Manager (60% minimum)
  • When required, to liaise with and assist the Marketing Executive in the planning and execution of both marketing, promotional and product/service launch activities with in the Region
  • The identification of potential market opportunities for the Company and the reporting of these opportunities to the Regional Sales Manager and the Marketing Executive
  • The identification of new or existing technologies which may be of interest to the Company and the reporting of these to the Regional Sales Manager and the Marketing Executive
  • the effective use of Company customer and prospective customer contact activities tools and systems, to include accurate and on-time forecasting/reporting
  • such other activities which may reasonably be requested of a Business Development Manager by the appropriate Regional Sales Manager or an Executive Director of the Company

There is a requirement for significant travel, including overnight stays, within the Region and occasionally within the wider UK geography.  Full driving license and UK work permit required.

Desired Capabilities

This role is autonomous in nature and will require an entrepreneurial mindset.  Water Treatment Industry experience is essential.  It is expected the successful candidate will quickly integrate into the existing team: capabilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Chemistry/Engineering Degree or equivalent (or minimum 5 years’ sales/account management experience in the water treatment industry)
  • Account Management experience to support key or national accounts as agreed with Regional Sales Manager
  • Short term service cover to assist development of new accounts/allow successful transition
  • Access to Hydro-X office for team meetings/reviews
  • Previous people management experience to support/deputise for Regional Sales Manager
