This training course is specifically designed for staff who are appointed as Authorised Persons (Electrical), responsible for managing High Voltage (HV) distribution equipment within the healthcare sector. During this Healthcare High Voltage (Authorised Person) Course, delegates will develop an understanding of working with high-voltage electrical systems, learn how to issue safety documentation and ensure compliance with HSE’s current legislation. Additionally, they will be trained to follow the HTM06-03 (HV) safety rules and procedures.

• Recognise Statutory safety regulations relating to HV safe working practices
• Follow procedures defined by HTM 06-03 HV safety rules and procedures
• Prepare safety documentation including a Permit to Work and a Sanction to Test
• Perform cable location and identification
• Carry out HV pressure testing of cables and vacuum circuit breakers

Whilst attending this City & Guilds Accredited course, delegates will work through a number of learning outcomes, and by the end of the course they will be able to show competency in those areas.

Delegates will look at the legislation and the requirements of statutory regulations, including the produced outlines by the HTM 06-03 HV safety rules for working with healthcare, as well as learning the relevant safety documentation including Permits to work and Sanction to test as authorised persons.

As part of the course, delegates will cover cable location, identification, HV pressure testing of cables, vacuum circuit breakers and confirming High Voltage cables are safe to work on using a cable spiking gun.

Delegates will learn in this course about testing on High Voltage including performing tests on HV Protective systems, practically carrying out the earthing operations, switchgear & cables, and live High Voltage phasing.
