This thermometer is quick, accurate and easy to use. \u00a0Press\u00a0power (on\/mem) button to turn the instrument on, hold the instrument\u00a0within 4 cm (40 mm) from the centre of the forehead and press and hold\u00a0the ‘Start’\u00a0button until you hear one beep (unless muted) indicating the reading is complete. \u00a0Readings should take approximately 1 second. The built-in\u00a0fever alarm (three short beeps followed by one long beep) will sound whenever the oral equivalent temperature exceeds 37.5\u00b0C.<\/p>\n

For the best and most accurate readings we recommend that you keep the forehead area clean.\u00a0 Foreheads that are sweaty, perspiring, covered with cosmetics, or have scar tissue can cause inaccurate readings. \u00a0The person having their temperature checked, should have been in a stable environment for at least five minutes, and avoided exercising, bathing, or showering for 30 minutes (which can artificially raise your temperature), before taking forehead temperatures.<\/p>\n

The bright, blue backlight ensures the display is easy to read, even in poorly lit areas. To ensure long battery life the thermometer will auto power-off after 60 seconds.\u00a0 For added versatility, changing to surface mode will allow measuring the surface temperature of other common items to a maximum temperature of 80\u00b0C.\u00a0 The temperature range is switchable between \u00b0C and \u00b0F, to do this, go into power off mode, press and hold the \u2018start\u2019 button then press the power (on\/mem) button for 3 seconds, \u00b0C will switch to \u00b0F. You can use the same process to switch back from \u00b0F to \u00b0C. NOTE: when you switch between \u00b0C and \u00b0F the memory will be cleared.\u00a0\u00a0The Non-Contact Forehead thermometer stores your last 25 readings for easy recall and periodic monitoring.<\/p>\n
