We are thrilled to introduce our new Head of Operations James Curtis!
James joined the business at the beginning of February as he adds to Jeremy Wakeham’s management team.

James brings with him a vast background in both air and water hygiene and we caught up with him to see how he is settling into the new role!

Walk Us Through Your Work History

I have a broad background in air and water hygiene starting on the tools back in 2012 as Air Hygiene Engineer. Since then I have held many roles as I progressed within the Marlowe Group starting in 2016 with WCS Group as an Air and Water Hygiene Technician. In 2018 I was promoted to Water Supervisor and following success in that role I naturally progressed into the Field Manager role in 2019 before becoming Service Delivery Manager in 2021 for the Water Division.

A notable success story during my time with WCS included creating and developing a multitude of applications that changed the internal processes on time sheets, site audits and desktop audits. On top of this I had a hand in how calibration data was stored and used.

As of the 1st February 2024 I was delighted to accept the position of Head of Operations for Hydro-X Air having worked closely with Jeremy and members of the team in my previous roles it seemed like the perfect fit for the next stage of my career.      

Held roles as:

  • Air hygiene engineer 2012 – 2016
  • 2016 joined the Group as a Water and Air Technician within the group.
  • 2018 became Water Supervisor
  • 2019 became a Field Manager for Water at WCS Group
  • 2021 – Service Delivery Manager for Water at WCS Group
  • February 2024 became Head of Operations for Hydro-X Air

What will you bring to this role?

One of my aims will be bringing Hydro-X Air closer to other entities within the Marlowe Compliance Services group. This will include aligning processes and building on what is already a very strong management team as we look to a bright future.

I would say I am good at identifying strengths and weaknesses and supporting any pain points within the business. I will also bring a cohesive workflow to the team.

What are your responsibilities?

I have already been getting stuck in since starting at the beginning of February. managing and giving support to a team of delivery managers. Through to ensure optimal performance and smooth delivery to our clients.

What made you choose Hydro-X Air for the next stage of your career?

The timing was perfect for me regarding this role as it provided me the progression I was looking for in my career. I am very much already enjoying the new challenge with the team. So far in this position everyone has been very genuine and helpful. There is a lot of team members who are willing to go out of their way for you.

My current team is very supportive of my new role as I transitioned from another business within the group into this role.

What do you do in your spare time?

Spending time with family, I have a 1 year 5 month old baby so on top of my work life she keeps me and my partner very busy.
