Asbestos Awareness Training Course Overview
This UKATA Asbestos Awareness Training has been designed to provide the delegates with the knowledge of what asbestos is and give them a basic understanding and awareness of it.
It will cover where asbestos is likely to be found, what to do if it is discovered, and the laws and legislation surrounding asbestos. This asbestos awareness training course is recognised by UKATA (UK Asbestos Training Association) and meets all the requirements laid down by the Control of Asbestos Regulation 2012.
This course awards a Category A Awareness certification.

Who is this UKATA Asbestos training suitable for?
This asbestos awareness training is aimed at those who are likely to be involved with asbestos. This could be in property management or trades that work directly or indirectly with asbestos, or material that could be asbestos.
What certification will I receive?
All successful learners will receive a UKATA certificate covering Category A Awareness. This certification has a validity period of 1 year, where after a refresher course is recommended.

What is covered in a UKATA Asbestos Awareness Training Course?
This UKATA-accredited training course is broken up into 6 modules to give the delegate an understanding of asbestos and provide the knowledge required by the Control of Asbestos Regulation 2012.
- What is Asbestos?
- During this course a detailed description of what asbestos is, the different types available, and the history of its use.
- Where Asbestos is found
- This module looks at the particular environments where asbestos is found, and the variety of building trades where it is likely to be discovered. During the training of this module, there are lots of visual aids available to allow the delegates to relate to the various situations.
- Health effects
- Delegates will be part of a discussion of the negative impact that asbestos has on the lungs, gastrointestinal tract and other organs. This module covers the medical conditions attributed to asbestos such as lung cancer, asbestosis, pleural plaques and more.
- Risk Assessment
- Participants of the Asbestos Awareness training course will look at identifying the hazards and risks in workplaces where asbestos is likely to be found.
- Principles of Control
- Delegates gain an understanding of some simple strategies for controlling hazards surrounding asbestos and how to reduce risks.
- What the law says
- Learners will leave having an understanding of what the law says about the use, removal & disposal od asbestos.

At the end of the legionella training each delegate undertakes a multiple choice assessment consisting of 20 questions, with 15 correct answers achieving a pass grade (75%).
Where facilities permit, assessment is completed online to enable faster processing of results and certification.
On successful completion you will receive a City and Guilds Accredited Programme Certificate. However, the certificate of training should be refreshed after every 2 years.
A digital certificate will be made available for you to download normally within 48hrs of successfully completing this course.
Paper copies of certificates can be supplied subject to a small administration fee.
