Fire Door Installation Training Course
NEW OFFERING – We are now offering a 2-day City & Guild Accredited Programme covering the theory and practical side of currently installing fire doors following guidelines and legislation. It has been designed with Fire Door Technicians or qualified joiners in mind and covers fire door regulations & legislation, fire door reporting, how to evidence work and best practices. On the second day of training, using our purpose-built training rig, delegates get hands-on practical skills fitting an FD30 door before doing an industry-standard checklist to check the doors, before carrying out any alterations or adjustments at the point of installation.

Fire & Smoke Damper Awareness Course
Our unique City & Guilds Accredited Fire & Smoke Damper Awareness Training Course is for managers and specifiers who are required to understand the need for fire and smoke damper testing and inspection, along with obtaining a better understanding of the legislation and compliance requirements in order to increase the safety of building users.
This Fire & Smoke Damper Awareness course covers all the legislation that surround fire dampers, including Acop 5, HTMs 05-02, and BESA DW145 and DW144 as well fire regulations including BS EN 9999: 2017 and The Regulatory (Fire Safety) Order 2005. This course is only available as a half-day virtual course, with no prior knowledge needed, but still delivered with the same expert trainer experience that Hydro-X Training endeavors to provide on all our training courses.
All successful delegates will receive a City & Guilds Accredited Programme Certificate in Fire and Smoke Damper Awareness.
Fire Responsible Person Training Course
This City & Guilds Accredited course is designed for anyone who is nominated or involved with the Responsible Person for Fire in a premise or building. Covering all the key legislation including the changes to Regulation 10 of the Fire Safety Order (Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022).
All delegates on this course will gain all the necessary knowledge to fire safety risk assessment, manage evacuation plans, and fire fighting equipment as well as gain an understanding of fire preventative models such as compartmentation.

Using our brand new purpose-built training rig at our dedicated training centre delegates will get the opportunity to get hands-on experience in fire door maintenance and how to do the repairs to the required standard. During this course, delegates will get the underpinning knowledge surrounding the maintenance of fire doors during a classroom theory day, covering key aspects including operational and maintenance manuals, fire safety regulations, such as BS8214 & BS9999. Evidencing requirements and planned maintenance is also covered in detail on this course.
As part of the practical element held on the second day, delegates will get to perform checks on pre-installed doors, with industry-standard checklists, and will get hands-on experience doing fire door repairs, maintenance and manufacturer-approved adjustments,
Fire & Smoke Damper Testing Training Course
Our City & Guilds Accredited one-day Fire & Smoke Damper Testing Training Course is aimed at staff that wish to carry out fire and smoke damper testing and inspection, but who require the knowledge and skills to do so safely and competently. Our Fire Safety Training Course will also give you the appropriate knowledge of statutory regulations related to ventilation system maintenance.
This course provides a hands-on learning experience with our specialist rigs, allowing the delegates to experience most of the different types of dampers available in the industry, and the testing, inspection, and maintenance of dampers in-situ of ductwork, providing the most comprehensive fire damper training experience in the county.
As well as the hands-on experience gained, delegates will leave with an understanding of all the statutory regulations, and legislation that is relevant to fire dampers including HTM’s 03-01 and 05-02, BESA DW145 & DE144, and BS 9999, furthermore, this course also covers reporting.
The course is delivered by industry experts with years of experience in the fire sector, and all delegates who successfully complete this course will receive a City & Guilds Accredited Programme Certificate in Fire & Smoke Damper Testing, which is valid for 3 years.
Fire Door Inspection Course
Our Fire Door Inspection Course is a City & Guilds Accredited Programme. The course addresses the importance of different types of fire doors and their installation. Furthermore, the course explores several components, including door closers, hinges, and door hardware. Additionally, this training also features practical examples of fire door inspections to help reinforce the key learning points that can be implemented in real-life scenarios.
Our training centre in South Yorkshire has a specially built fire door training rig allowing the best hands-on experience to complement the best-in-class expert training provided by our experienced trainers. All key fire legislation is covered in this course including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety Order) 2005, Fire Safety Order May 2021, and the amendments in Article 10 (23rd August 2022).
