Thermostatic Mixing Valve Management & Requirements Course Overview
This 1-day training course covers the TMV management and requirements in a non-healthcare and healthcare settings. It is an accredited programme by City & Guilds.
This training course has been designed for people involved in the management and requirements of TMVs, including building managers, client account managers, responsible persons & managers/supervisors. Furthermore is also beneficial for operatives who are involved in the commissioning, maintenance and monitoring of TMVs or for those who carry out servicing on Thermostatic Mixing Valves.
Delegates will then complete an assessment ensuring the delegates leave with a full understanding of TMVs.

What is covered in this TMV Management & Requirements Training Course?
This course covers a number of topics over several modules.
Statutory and non-statutory Documents relevant to TMVS:
This course covers all the legislation surrounding the management and requirements of Thermostatic mixing valves, both in a healthcare and non-healthcare setting. This includes covering acts such as the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, COSHH regulations, Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations (Byelaws in Scotland), HTM 04-01 including the NHS D08 document, as well as other regulation guidelines or pieces of legislation.
Scalding, Legionella Awareness & Risk
This covers basic Legionella awareness, looking into guidelines surrounding Legionella bacteria in water, such as the HSG274 and the ACoP L8, and looking at the risk of scalding posed by faulty TMVs
Case Studies
Several case studies are looked at as part of the TMV Management and Requirements Training Courses. These case studies allow the delegates to reflect on past examples of failures and prosecutions resulting from poor management of TMVs.
Thermostatic Mixing Valves
As part of this course, one of the modules is an in-depth look at TMVs. This covers parts including a basic understanding of TMVs, their working mechanisms, and the various types of TMVs and TMTs (Thermostatic Mixing Tapes).
Commissioning and installation of a new TMV is looked at in this module, as well as the placement, accessibility and issues surrounding incorrectly installed valves, as well as the issues surrounding group TMV mixers.
Furthermore, this course covers the Buildcert Scheme, looking at the TMV2 and TMV3 schemes, which is the accreditation programme designed to classify TMVs and their suitability for installation in certain buildings.

At the end of the TMV training, each delegate undertakes a multiple-choice assessment. This consists of 20 questions with 15 correct answers achieving a pass grade (75%).
On successful completion of this TMV Installation, Commissioning and Maintenance course, you will receive a City and Guilds Accredited Programme Certificate.
A digital certificate will be made available to download. This is usually available within 48hrs of successfully completing this course.
Paper copies of certificates can be supplied subject to a small administration fee.
This will need renewing every 2 years.

What will I receive after completing the TMV Management & Requirements Training Course?
Delegates who complete and pass the multiply choice assessment at the end of the course will receive a City & Guilds Accredited Programme Certificate in Management and Requirements of TMVs. This certificate should be refreshed every 2 years to remain current and competent.
